Chhaava box office collection day 33: Vicky Kaushal's film has experienced a decline during the weekdays, bringing its net domestic collection to Rs 567.8 crore.
After witnessing an upswing in collections over the weekend, Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has experienced a decline during the weekdays. According to Sacnilk, the film minted Rs 2.5 crore on Tuesday, bringing its net domestic collection to Rs 567.8 crore.
Concluding its fourth week with a total of Rs 55.95 crore, Chhaava saw a remarkable 61.11 percent surge in its collection on Friday, earning Rs 7.25 crore. This upward trend continued on Saturday, with a 9 percent increase as it collected Rs 7.9 crore, followed by Rs 8 crore on Sunday. However, the film experienced a sharp decline of 66.88 percent on Monday, earning Rs 2.65 crore, which was followed by another drop on Tuesday. On the same day, Chhaava recorded an overall Hindi occupancy of 10.42 percent and a Telugu occupancy of 12.77 percent.
In terms of net domestic collection, Chhaava has surpassed major blockbusters like PK (Rs 340.80 crore), Pathaan (Rs 543.09 crore), and Animal (Rs 553.87 crore). The film’s worldwide earnings have now reached an impressive Rs 764 crore in its fifth week of release. Chhaava is trailing Stree 2’s Rs 597 crore haul by just Rs 30 crore.
Despite its successful run, Chhaava has found itself at the center of controversy after Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis linked the film to the recent violence in Nagpur. Addressing the state Assembly, Fadnavis remarked, “Chhaava movie has ignited people’s anger against Aurangzeb still, everyone must keep Maharashtra peaceful.” In the film, Vicky Kaushal portrays Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire, who fought against Aurangzeb, played by Akshaye Khanna in the film.
Nagpur remains on edge after violent clashes erupted on Monday amid rumours of a holy book being desecrated during a demonstration by right-wing groups demanding the removal of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s tomb in Khuldabad, located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (formerly Aurangabad) district.
